Summary: Stephanie Capshaw, OTD, OTR/L presents an All STAR Lecture on how most kids can’t wait for the summer break to be free of the school schedule and homework, but for kids with SPD transitioning to the summer schedule and different routines can be a troublesome time. Dr. Capshaw presents some easy strategies to help with these transitions as well as some great summer fun activities. Discussion panel includes Lindsay Fogerty, MS, OTR/L and Maura Mooneyham, MS, OTR/L.

Presenter: Stephanie Capshaw, OTD, OTR/L has over 15 years of experience in pediatric occupational therapy and academia. She has spent her clinical career working with children from birth to 21 in the public schools, outpatient clinical settings, and in the home. Prior to coming to the STAR Center, she served as a Clinical Associate Professor (where she was responsible for teaching the pediatric content of the curriculum), Academic Fieldwork Coordinator, and finally, the Program Director for the Master of Occupational Therapy Program at the University of Texas at El Paso. She has completed the SPD Foundation’s Intensive Mentorship Programs, Levels I and II. She is certified in the administration and interpretation of the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test. In addition to her clinical responsibilities at the STAR Center, Stephanie is also serving as the Education Director for the SPD Foundation, where she oversees educational programs and continuing education for parents and clinicians.
